MULTICULTURES: Here you will find a general history of the three multicultures prominent in the Northern New Mexico area: the Native American (Indian) culture, the Spanish (Hispanic) culture, and the Anglo (Caucasian) culture. A look at the melting pot of cultures in Taos and Santa Fe, New Mexico will also be presented. For centuries these three cultures have had to learn how to live side by side in peace and harmony and this has contributed to the expansive, open lifestyle that defines Northern New Mexico.

A Native American woman prepares food in a horno (adobe oven), with Taos Mountain and the some of the dwellings of the historic Taos Pueblo visible behind her. Even today, tourists can enjoy fresh-baked fry bread during their visit to the 1,000-year-old Taos Pueblo, just north of the town of Taos, New Mexico.
